| Listing #1 - Canoeing Resort Canoeing, Kayaking, Rafting, Tubing
"Float Trip" refers to a trip down a river in any watercraft without a motor. The most popular float watercraft is the canoe. However, many floaters also enjoy kayaks, rafts, and tubes. Having all four available ensures higher float rental income. Also important to a fun float trip is well managed, well timed shuttle services. A school bus and a canoe trailer are used to transport floaters and their watercraft to various starting points and pick-up locations. The driver also needs to load canoes onto the trailers. Guests are not expected to lift canoes.
Southfork Resort offers float trips on two rivers: 1.) South Fork of the Spring River; 2.) the Spring River. Though similar in name, each is a separate river. The South Fork tends to be easier and slower, and can be floated by anyone. The Spring river requires intermediate to advanced canoeing skills. Southfork Resort offers a 5 and a 12 mile trip on the Spring River. The 5 mile trip includes a 6 foot high waterfall. The 12 mile trip includes thirty sets of rapids, many are class 2 and class 3 ledge type whitewater runs.
Float trips on the South Fork are 3, 8, or 12 miles long, and rated as class 1 and class 2 whitewater. Beginners on up can safely float the South Fork. The major differences between the two rivers is that the Spring River is mostly about whitewater action, while the South Fork is more for a relaxed, scenic trip.
